In less than 20 days, the Philippines will again hold a national and local election that is anticipated to shape our destiny for the next six years. On election day, we urge our Alumni not only to exercise their right of suffrage but to exercise it according to their conscience, unconstrained by ties of kinship, fraternity or affiliation, but guided by informed wisdom and genuine love for the country . Indeed, we find ourselves again at the crossroads of having to define our values, our commitments, and our sustainable future.
For our voters, it is time to choose the leaders who will share the values and echo the challenge of being men and women for others. Let us all be vigilant in making sure we have a clean, honest, and peaceful elections. Let us all be humble enough to accept and support whoever is chosen by the people.
For our candidates, it is time to imbibe the ideal of true public service, that which is done for the common good, that which espouses truth, honesty, transparency, and integrity, and that which works for the Greater Glory of God.
