The Ateneo de Manila Class of 1988 will be this year’s host of the 2012 Grand Alumni Homecoming at the NBC Tent on July 20, 2012, Friday. Honorees of the homecoming are the graduates of Class 1962, 1972 and 1987. The theme for this year is ‘iMAKE a Difference‘ or ‘iMAD’.

The major event to kick off iMAD is a benefit concert on 29 March 2012, Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. ALV Events International, represented by its President, Arnold L. Vegafria, will package this concert
celebrating music across the decades and featuring home-grown artists who through the decades, have made their mark and are continuously making good music in the Philippine entertainment industry namely: Jose Mari Chan, RJ Jacinto and his band, Basil Valdez, Kuh Ledesma, Joey Albert, The Rage Band, Vina Morales, Jessa Zaragoza, Geneva Cruz, Billy Crawford and Nikki Gil. Grace Lee acts as emcee.
Tagged “MAD for Music”, this concert promises to be a huge musical extravaganza for a good cause. It will also be a tribute to the members of the honoree batches who will all be invited, along with prominent personalities in Ateneo de Manila Law School, to grace the red carpet and enjoy the cocktails preceding the live concert.
TV5 will be the media partner for MAD for Music and will broadcast the musical concert sometime in April 2012.
Net proceeds of the live concert and the TV5 broadcast will fund not only the iMAD 2012 Ateneo Law Alumni Homecoming, but also the scholarship and other charitable projects, social causes and activities of the Ateneo de Manila Law School, Ateneo Law Alumni Association, Inc. and Ateneo Law ’88, Inc.
needs of poor and marginalized communities. More specifically, Waterhope provides: (1) clean, safe and affordable drinking water for poor and marginalized communities; (2) alternative sources of income for the entrepreneurial poor by giving them access to livelihood opportunities through water dealerships; and, (3) access to community development programs which are funded from the profits of the Waterhope business which functions as a sustainable economic engine to consistently deliver social development programs for the long term.
Recognizing the needs of many poor communities for legal assistance, Ateneo Law ’88, Inc. will also hold on 23 June 2012, Saturday, a legal mission and read-along dubbed “MAD for Others”. The over-all objective of this mission is to educate beneficiaries on basic legal rights in the areas of law that most challenge the lives of the poor and equip NGO field staff to be able to provide “first aid” to the people they serve. More specifically, the mission aims to (1) empower beneficiaries so that they have the means to recover their voice and standing in society; (2) promote a deeper social awareness and involvement among the legal profession and foster the “bayanihan” spirit that marks a true Filipino.
