Waterhope, a collaborative social enterprise, is a major beneficiary of the Ateneo Law ’88, Inc. Waterhope offers a wholistic  approach  to  address  both  the  economic  and  social

needs of poor and marginalized communities. More specifically, Waterhope provides: (1) clean, safe and affordable drinking water for poor and marginalized communities; (2) alternative sources of income for the entrepreneurial poor by giving them access to livelihood opportunities through water dealerships; and, (3) access to community development programs which are funded from the profits of the Waterhope business which functions as a sustainable economic engine to consistently deliver social development programs for the long term.

Recognizing the needs of many poor communities for legal assistance, Ateneo Law ’88, Inc. will also hold on 23 June 2012, Saturday, a legal mission and read-along dubbed “MAD for Others”. The over-all objective of this mission is to educate beneficiaries on basic legal rights in the areas of law that most challenge the lives of the poor and equip NGO field staff to be able to provide “first aid” to the people they serve. More specifically, the mission aims to (1) empower beneficiaries so that they have the means to recover their voice and standing in society; (2) promote a deeper social awareness and involvement among the legal profession and foster the “bayanihan” spirit that marks a true Filipino.
